My first 6 months in the most international company

There are people who think that postal services and logistics are easy businesses. Bring a container, parcel, letter from A to B, what could be easier? We know it is often not that simple. We provide more than that – and even delivering from A to B can be difficult at times. But, as our customer promise states, we will do our utmost to ensure that, no matter how complicated it may be for us in the background, it should feel easy for the customer to work with us.
Why is simplicity and ease of use so important for our business? When customers buy a product, price is not the only thing high on their agenda. Instead, they often also want something that makes their lives easier.

This article is about my fantastic journey within the most international company.
Since I started in may this year I had the opportunity to grow and develop new skills. My company has made an certified international specialist out of me.
Certified International Specialist

Forty years ago, DHL invented the International Express Industry - it's what we do, it's who we are. DHL uses that passion and experience to lead the way globally. This programm is one of the most comprhensive programs ever introduced for all 100,000 DHL express colleagues.Everyone within DHL is provided with the specialized knowledge they need, to do their job competently and confidently - and that's good news for both employees and customers. CIS defines how we can be the best and how every one of us can find a way from 'good to great'.

Focus on eCommerce
A month ago our Sales Director came to me during a prestigeous event in Leuven. He asked me if I was intrested in specialising in the B-to-C business and opportunities in that domain. He wants me to become the spokeswoman for all e-commerce solutions within DHL express. I will be the communicator inside and outside our company. I feel honored and pleased to be able to take up this challenge even after such a short start in the company.
Work within a great team

The people make the company. In the entrance hall of our offices in Diegem hangs a mega print of all the people working at DHL express. I think it must be there for more than 10 years and guess what., most of the faces are familiar and still working at DHL. This company is fantastic, I want to stay here forever.

I want to finish this article with the words of Ken Allen (CEO DHL Express, currently celebrating his 30th anniversary at DHL ).

The secret of great businesses, for me, is when you start to talk about certain elements in your business, like being Insanely Customer Centric, everybody immediately knows that's Express. It's different for every division how people are shown how to differentiate themselves from everybody else.  We all want to make our people feel exceptionally proud to work for us.  It really is like being part of a family. Family members don't always agree on everything, but what you do know is, that if you've got a problem you can call on them for help and you'll get it just like that.
